Scholarship Information: The OU Club of Tulsa annually awards five scholarships to incoming freshmen. Four of the awards total $2,000 each, $1,000 in cash and $1,000 in tuition waiver.

The top freshman scholarship awarded is the Joe Lawnick Memorial Scholarship, which is $3,000 ($2,000 in cash and $1,000 tuition waiver). Joe Lawnick was one of the founding members of the OU Club of Tulsa. He served his country for 6 years as a marine in World War II, was in 5 major campaigns in the Pacific, and was awarded a Bronze Star with a Combat 'V'. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma and graduated with both a BS and MS in Petroleum Engineering. He also went on to serve the University in several capacities including: president of the alumni association, dean's council of the college of engineering, and as a founding member of the University of Oklahoma Associates. In 1979 Joe Lawnick was inducted into the University of Oklahoma Alumni Hall of Fame. At the time of his passing, Joe Lawnick was the executive director of the Chip-in-Club, in support of the OU golf program.

The OU Club of Tulsa also awards two $2,000 scholarships to students at OU-Tulsa, ($1,000 in cash and $1,000 in tuition waiver).

The OU Club of Tulsa is proud to announce the establishment of the Fern L. Holland Memorial Scholarship. Holland, an OU alumnae and former Tulsa attorney, fought for the human rights and freedom of others. As a member of the Coalition Provisional Authority, she helped write the women's rights section of the new Iraqi constitution. Holland was killed in Iraq in March, 2004. This scholarship is available to students from northeastern Oklahoma who attend OU-Tulsa or who are sophomore level or above at OU-Norman. The scholarship is $3,000.00 ($2,000.00 in cash and $1,000.00 in tuition waiver).

Each scholarship is paid one-half in the fall semester and one-half in the spring semester. Please note that tuition waiver is subject to University funding.

Funding for club scholarships comes from proceeds from the annual Sooner Caravan, the OU Club of Tulsa golf tournament and from donations from club members.
